Parent Counselling

A safe, non-judgemental space for parents and caregivers to find support, clarity, and renewed confidence in their role.

Parent Counselling

Your Family Is Important to You - and Parenting is Hard

You never imagined how difficult parenting could be. You love your family deeply, and yet some days leave you feeling exhausted, isolated, and like you're failing at the most important job you have ever had.

Parent counselling at Sunray provides a safe, non-judgemental space to work through the challenges of raising children — especially when your child is struggling with emotional or behavioural difficulties that leave you feeling unsure of what to do next.

Sessions are designed to support you personally — not just as a parent, but as a whole person. We explore what's getting in the way, address old patterns that may be resurfacing, and develop practical strategies to help you show up for your child with more confidence, calm, and connection.

You don't have to have it all figured out to reach out. Asking for support is one of the most powerful things you can do — for yourself and for your family.

"Parenting is one of the most rewarding yet challenging roles we take on. You deserve support too."

How Sessions Work

Sessions are flexible - 30 minutes for focused check-ins or strategy, or 60 minutes for deeper exploration. You set the pace.

01

Free 15-Minute Consultation

A no-pressure video call to talk through what's going on, ask questions, and see whether parent counselling is the right support for where you are right now.

02

Getting to Know Your Story

Early sessions focus on understanding your situation — your family history, your strengths, your stressors, and what you're hoping to change. Together, we map out what matters most to work on.

03

Ongoing Individualized Sessions

Sessions blend evidence-based approaches with a warm, conversational style — whether that's exploring emotional patterns, developing practical parenting strategies, or working through your own personal challenges.

04

Tools You Can Use at Home

Every session builds skills and strategies you can bring directly into your family life — communication techniques, regulation tools, conflict approaches, and ways to strengthen your relationship with your child.

Questions & Answers

Parent Counselling FAQs

No. Some parents come in the middle of a crisis — a child's diagnosis, a separation, a behavioural escalation. Others come simply because they feel worn down and want support before things get harder. Both are equally valid. You don't need to be struggling dramatically to deserve a space to be heard.

The 30-minute session is ideal for focused check-ins, strategy discussions, or parents who are also supporting a child in therapy and want guidance on how to reinforce progress at home. The 60-minute session allows for deeper personal exploration, working through emotional patterns, or addressing more complex parenting dynamics. Kiran can help you decide what's right for your situation.

Yes — parent counselling is available both in-person at the Victoria, BC office and virtually via a secure video platform. Virtual sessions offer the same quality of support with the flexibility of attending from home, which many parents find easier to fit into a busy schedule, and are available to clients located in British Columbia or Ontario at the time of receiving services.

Yes. Co-parent sessions can be a valuable way to get on the same page, improve communication, and develop consistent strategies together. Whether you are parenting together under one roof or co-parenting after separation, joint sessions can be arranged. Contact us to discuss the best approach for your situation.
